Introducing Our New VP, EMEA, John O’Keeffe

Following the announcement of our new EMEA HQ in Dublin just a few months ago, it’s been all systems go. Between opening the office, selecting our Dublin Ambassadors (a landing team from our SF crew who will spend the first 6 months of this year in Ireland), and hunting for the best local talent Ireland has to offer, it’s been non-stop! With that said, it’s with great pleasure and excitement that we’re formally announcing today that John O’Keeffe, former Area VP, SMB Sales at Salesforce.com, has joined Nitro as our VP, EMEA, based in Dublin.

John was employee #9 at Salesforce when he started in their EMEA HQ in Dublin back in 2000 and was a core part of the company’s tremendous success story in Europe over the last decade. During his tenure there, John held a variety of senior roles as the company scaled its presence in Europe, most recently as Area VP for SMB Sales, and he brings a wealth of pan-EMEA sales experience to the table. As Nitro’s VP, EMEA, John will have overall responsibility for the region (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa), including revenue and all operations.

Europe has always been an important contributor to our business and we see a tremendous opportunity for growth in the region, particularly with John’s appointment and the team we’re planning to build out under his leadership. We will be able to deliver even better levels of service to our existing customers like Nestlé, Continental AG, and the European Parliament, as well as attracting new companies of all sizes that may not have heard of us yet. With the new EMEA HQ, we’re now in a position to provide truly localized sales and support (in multiple languages) to all of our European customers, which further demonstrates our ongoing commitment to customer success around the globe.

While we initially envisioned the creation of at least 50 jobs over the next few years in Dublin, we’re now thinking our Irish operation will grow much more substantially to potentially double that number or more in the same time period. We’ve been blown away by the talent pool in Dublin, which was the most important factor for us in the evaluation of potential EMEA HQ locations. But Ireland was an easy choice.

In addition to a welcoming business environment, a first-rate education system, and the natural affinity between the Irish, Aussie and American cultures, Ireland is uniquely rich in a highly-skilled workforce experienced in growing European operations for technology businesses, both large and small, largely thanks to over 20 years of inward investment from companies like Apple, Microsoft, Salesforce, Google, and Facebook. We’re excited to continue to help invest in and grow that local talent pool by building a sophisticated operation in Dublin supporting almost all aspects of our business.

We’re currently hiring for a bunch of positions, including multilingual sales, account management, customer service, and marketing, and expect to add engineering, product, and other roles as well as additional regional offices over the coming year and into 2015. If you’re interested in joining the Nitro team in Europe, you can see all our open jobs here. We have big plans for EMEA, so exciting times ahead!

Céad míle fáilte again, John – welcome aboard!
