#NitroGives: AIDS Walk SF & Galileo Academy

Nitro Gives is the philanthropic arm of Nitro, making an effort to improve our local communities. Recently, we’ve had two initiatives that inspired Nitronauts and gave back to San Francisco, home of Nitro HQ.

First, we donated technology equipment to San Francisco’s Galileo Academy of Science & Technology. Nitronauts from the IT and Employee Experience teams presented the equipment, including laptops and monitors to David Barrios, the Head of the Science Department at Galileo, and Ava Van Natta, the Freshman Class President.

“At Galileo Academy of Science and Technology, we make it a priority to integrate technology in our teaching to make the curriculum more accessible, interesting, and useful to our students,” said Barrios. “Nitro’s donation of technology equipment will help us improve that integration and better bring technology into the education of our students.”

Then, the Nitro crew (along with 20,000 other individuals) took to the San Francisco streets for a cause: to raise support for HIV/AIDS programs in the Bay Area. With over 2 million dollars raised in online funding for the AIDS Walk, we were glad to be a part of a much greater picture.

Our fantastic team of Nitronauts showed up strong, and those who opted out of walking showed their support through donations. We are proud to have raised over $3,600 in support, but we are even prouder to have raised awareness by participating in such an impactful community event.
