Fifteen years ago today, the US Congress passed the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce (ESIGN) Act into federal law, ensuring the validity and legal effect of contracts entered into electronically. Today, every state in the US has at least one law pertaining to electronic signatures and solutions like Nitro are making it secure, easy, and super convenient to sign everything from a home loan application to a child’s school progress report.
The ESIGN act—and many others like it around the world—have been in play for less than a score, but people have been indicating consent electronically for more than a century.
