We’re hosting the third in the series of what have been hugely successful and popular tech meetups in our EMEA HQ in Dublin tomorrow evening.
While our previous tech meetups have focused on Spark and Scala programming, we’ll explore a new topic tomorrow at our inaugural reactive programming gathering. The focus will be on the future of hyperscale systems: Immutable DevOps and Mesos Data Centre OS.
We’re delighted to have two of Dublin’s most prolific engineering leaders joining us tomorrow, bringing with them their expertise on this area.
Roland Tritsch is a DevOps visionary and a passionate functional programming advocate with over 20 years’ experience building and running large, distributed software systems, and is a big fan of applying functional programming concepts to all aspects of software engineering.
He is currently running the Applications Services organization for Fujitsu in Ireland, having previously held the role of VP, Infrastructure Engineering at Gilt Groupe. Roland will introduce the concepts of immutable deployments, delving into the application of them with regard to Spark and Spark alternatives and their compatibility.
Joining Roland is Gregory Chomatas, Technical Lead at Hubspot, who has a deep knowledge of open source technologies spanning more than 20 years. He is particularly interested in architectures and software for Big Data storage / transformation / analysis / visualization and is intrigued to find ways to understand patterns and extract the knowledge from these datasets.
Gregory will enlighten us on how Hubspot run Mesos in production using Singularity, a platform that enables deploying and running services and scheduled jobs in the cloud or data centers. Combined with Apache Mesos, it provides efficient management of the underlying processes life cycle and effective use of cluster resources.
