Webinar Recap: Top Three Insights from the 2020 Productivity Report

The 2020 Nitro Productivity Report demonstrates that organizations’ document management processes—often seen as solely operational—can have a profound impact on knowledge workers, affecting everything from daily productivity to job satisfaction, likelihood to quit, and even customer service.

Insight 1: Organizations are missing out on the opportunity to help a third of their workforce to be more productive daily.  

Think you’ve checked all the boxes to ensure your company has efficient document processes? You might be wondering why an overwhelming majority of knowledge workers (97% of them, in fact) see significant room to improve document processes across their organizations. An entire third of respondents feel only slightly productive and 43% feel stressed out often at work. Those who work with 10 plus documents per day report the highest level of stressWithout the right document processes, many global knowledge workers don’t feel as efficient as they could be, they also feel more stressed, less supported, less satisfied, and less able to meet customer needs.  

Insight 2: A reliance on paper and printing counteracts digital transformation efforts. 

Organizations still rely heavily on printing, yet paper and printing are rarely top of mind today. Strikingly, 53% of knowledge workers still print documents multiple times per day and 48% manually sign documents. This level of printing is not only unproductive and disruptive to workflows it drains budgets quickly and is impossible to track. This extent of paper usage makes it more difficult for workers to stay on top of work that matters most. As businesses position themselves for digital transformation success it’s up to CIOs to digitize processes that make or break their businesses. 

Insight 3: Poor document management impacts multiple aspects of employee experience.  

Organizations have poured money and resources into the customer experience even though the responsibility to deliver the ultimate customer experience is up to employees. Knowledge workers are not getting the support that they need to do their best work daily, 72% said it’s difficult to get resources to do their jobs such as tools and trainingThat’s why IT departments need to connect with employees to ensure that they have the resources they need in their roles. The mindset to have here is to think about turning resources inward to benefit employees—a change that will benefit the end consumer. Awareness is everything! Realizing what employees deal with daily gives organizations a starting point to improve, and makes knowledge workers feel heard, supported, and more satisfied. 

How can organizations tackle change? 

Businesses really can improve things and save money with specific digital solutionsMake sure to connect with employees, act on learnings, measure the impact and ROI of initiatives, and don’t sacrifice employee experience for customer experience. If executed right these steps can cultivate a workforce that’s more satisfied and more invested in the work that they are doing. You’ll sign deals faster, boost time savings (save an hour at least each week) for employees who did not previously have PDF productivity or eSigning tools, develop more secure document management practices, and gain more control by being able to track document workflows.
